I think it would be worthwhile to devote an entire thread to listing all the rattles, buzzes and creaking sounds that can appear to come from the interior of the vehicle.

I'll start!

Symptom: Rattle that appears to come from the door behind the wood veneer
Solution: Push plastic piece on exterior mirror attachment (on exterior of door, between the door sill and the A pillar)

Symptom: Rattling sound near top of dash
Solution: Smack top of dash above instrument cluster, consider putting credit card/paper/wood shim between upper dash and wood veneer

Symptom: Rattling sound in headliner
Solution: Open and close moonroof shade forcefully

 

I have always beeen proud of the fact that my car has remaind noise free all of these years. Then just this week, a dreaded rattle appeared out of nowhere, centered behind cluster. Holding down on all related parts does nothing for it. I think it is inside the dash. Only does it on rough roads. Grrrr.

 

It's easy for a car to remain noise free in a humid and warm environment like Florida!

This car is pretty quiet by most standards (probably due to the rigidity of the chassis), but occasionally a few rattles do appear which annoy the crap out of me.

 

2004 XJ8. 47,000 miles. In New England all its life. No rattles, no squeaks, knock on wood (veneer, that is).

 

I bet you guys are all 60 years old! I am 24 years old and still have my hearing!
