You are absolutely correct nebelfuerst, the shift adaptations can not be remove by way of battery reset, that will have to be done by dealer to clear the tcm adaptations.

I had the cats system fault light went on.

I bought a obd2 reader and quickly learned as most of you probably know that the cheap readers won't read "C" (chassis) codes. You need to find a shop or someone with a REAL scanner like AutoEnginuity scanner.

The code I had was C1430 - Rear Left damper short circuit to battery or in other words replace the shock.

I decided to use ArnottIndustries products but still had a big decision to make: do I go with a single "stock" replacement for $399. Or replace the rear with redesigned air shock for the rear or convert the whole darn thing to coil overs for $1,295

Well opted for the rears for $875 and could not be happier. They come with a lifetime warranty and feel fantastic. Handling is superb and über comfortable.

Well the job took 1.5 hours (45 minutes per side ). Couldn't have been easier to do except...

Again the shocks were a breeze but you know how it goes. So there was on nut on the beautifully designed lug nuts (chrome caps really?!) that wouldn't budge. I carefully removed the cheap cap with a hammer and chisel. Then put maximum torque on the remaining 17mm nut and the damn thing sheared off leaving half of the thing still holding the wheel on. I spent the next 4 hours carefully cutting and drilling
and removing the lug nut. Once the wheel was off the shocks were simple!

Tip!
On all your jags replace the stock nuts with Mitsubishi MR455707 you can buy online for about $3.50 each. Don't forget to buy yourself a new lug wrench so you have 21mm to replace the POS stock issued 19mm which is worthless anyway.

Back on to the subject of CATS, Ive never had an air suspension fault, however the ride is very harsh. So i took it to a jag dealer and they found the following codes: C1430,C1427,C1424,C1419, which means open circuit to all four suspension struts. Ive not had chance to take it back to jag for further investigation, but I believe its an unusual one.

About a week ago I had the typical air suspension fault some minutes after start-up, with yellow light, which went away after 4 short drives on the same day (don't know the exact cause for fault message, but ride height was OK all the time and there was no suspension low warning or red light).

I know that the CATS is separate from Air suspension system, but it goes to hard mode when there is air suspension fault.

However, what happened to me; the CATS stuck to hard mode even after the air suspension fault and yellow light were gone. Ride height is exactly normal, so this in not problem with air suspension. The car has very harsh and hard ride now, unbearably so.

I tried to reset CATS by disconnecting battery for 10 mins, but no effect. Still in hard mode.

Any suggestion how I could reset the CATS and possibly air suspension module without dealer data link? Would not like to pay dealer 100 eur for connecting a computer and pressing a button.

Thanks,

Normally that sounds like a weak pump...
