Charcoal Canister?
Our 2004 VDP showed a check engine light that read a minor evap leak. If we were lucky it was a gas cap or just a hose, but a smoke test pointed to some ventilation filter that is part of the charcoal canister, so we were looking at a $400 canister and 6 hours of labor to drop the rear suspension at $84 per hour.
We are also being told that other than having a problem for inspection sticker with check engine light on, this isn't a big deal.
This filter/canister is involved with exhausting unburnt fuel, I'm told.
Can anyone shed some light on this, especially if there's another solution.
Thank you!

Hi yes its more likely to be the purge valve the purge valve controls what goes in an out of the carbon canister an these do tend to fail i was told a simple way to rule the carbon canister out is to pull 1 of the pipes off that go in to it but unsure if this works
