Default Chrome finishing strips falling off

I am having trouble with my chrome finishing strips starting to come off the car on my rear doors and also the little piece slightly behind the rear doors. I can push it down and it will hold, but only temporarily. Is there a permanent fix that I can do? Perhaps some sort of special adhesive that works well?

I use 3M double sided tape and works greatly , no falling off neither sagging .Bear in mind weather must be nice or shiny when tackling with this job

Really? What kind of 3M doublesided tape are we talking about?

3M tapes and adhesives are widely used in the auto industry, the stick-in Jaguar leapers and various other things rely on these. Where you buy the stuff at retail, I am not sure, probably auto parts and accessory stores

Ok, I got 15' of 1/2" double sided automotive trim tape. For the trim around the rear windows, can I just pull it off, or do I need to be worried about old adhesive/fasteners? It appears that there is some rubber underneath.

For better results, you need to clean all the gunk / remnants off that's vital . Then if possible use an adhesive promoter (you may not use it's not that indispensible) and wipe the stuff off with a towel and apply the 3M tape on it .

But just to make sure, there are no fasteners or other pieces other than the actual chrome? It seems like there is rubber surrounding the chrome pieces...

I reckon rubber that is placed underneath the chrome pieces must replace fasteners or other retainers . I believe rubber also hinders from making noise those parts but if you ask me I always prefer retainers .
Back to rubber compound , it's like you buy 3D badges and you see there is a tape underneath on it not a retaining clip or fastener

My question is what do the cars come with from factory (I'm pretty sure these rubber water-seal like things are stock)? Can I just pull it off, and if I do, can I expect any fasteners to be under there?

I am having trouble understanding how I can pull the trim off (with rubber molding underneath), and replace it (while keeping the rubber pieces there) without the trim being just as bad as it already is. I don't want to risk breaking the trim pieces if it's not going to look any better.
