Does anyone know whether that trim piece in the trunk lid (where it says "JAGUAR") can be removed and replaced easily? The 2005 XJR had a body-colored trim piece, but I really want the chrome version if it is not a major pain to switch out. Also, I have had zero luck locating the chrome piece, so if you know where I might be able to find one, please advise!

But, even with their excellent discount it's still a pricy piece at $258 for a new one. If you call their 800 number they can tell you how difficult it is to change it out. It doesn't look very difficult.

You may want to explore the "used" jag parts suppliers if price is an issue.

I got mine for my '97 XK8 at Adamesh Limited out of the United Kingdom for $160. It is gorgeous and it makes all the difference in the rear appearence of my car. I also bought the chrome tail light trim rings from them. The chrome boot plinth, as they refer to it, did require the drilling of a couple of holes to fit properly, but I made a template out of cardboard and had no trouble with it.

 

I just bought one off e-bay from a wrecking yard in TX. Paid $50 plus $15 for shipping. It came off a VDP. I will let you know how it goes when I get the part. It doesn't look too hard, will just have to remove most of the lining on the trunk deck.
