Default cold engine misfires

Have the weirdest issue.
When I start the car after sitting all night, it runs rough, getting some misfires, and right away the restricted performance comes on.
However, once the car gets to full normal op temp, the restricted performance goes away, and the misfires go away. It runs fine after that.

What the heck could be causing that? Car is totally fine after warmed up. Rough until then.

Get codes for cyl 1 misfire (always) and sometimes 5 and or 7. There's a long back story here, but to make my initial post short, I wont get into everything I worked on yet.
I will mention, My coolant temp sensor seems to be working ok. As the car heats up the temp guage climbs normally until it hits dead center where it always is when warmed up.

Anyone have a similar issue or any ideas?
Thanks!

My car was doing something similar. It was durning these last winter months. Would start and act like it was missing on cold idle, especially in gear would shake the car. However, it would do it for only 30 maybe 60 seconds and there were no lights on. I had a cracked vacuum hose for the secondary air injection and it went on for a few days until the check engine light came on for that code, and then the light would come and go until I inspected the system, I barely touched one of those vacuum lines and it snapped in half. Capped the system off. Once I replaced the vacuum lines it does not seem to do that anymore.

Sounds like you may have more going on but wanted to share my experience for what its worth.

Try a smoke test with cold engine & if no good, hot engine.

Seems to have been a bad coil pack. That's part of the back story. I replaced all 8 coilpacks recently. (non-OEM)
I kept some of the old ones that I thought were still working properly.
I put an old one in cylinder 1, and now the miss is gone.

I ordered a new one, Denso this time, to have on hand or replace it with should it fail.

That would have been my suggestion, as well, to check the coils. Electrical problems very often show in relation to temperature.

Best regards,

Thomas

I was not aware a coil could act like that. But the fact that all 8 were new led me on a goose chase. I replaced the spark plug, then injector thinking it couldn't be the coil. But it was!
