coolant tank & cap
Mechanic says that the coolant tank has shrunk as no new radiator caps fit. The old one is leaking desperately. Is it possible that the coolant tank that was replaced in June is the wrong one. There wasn't a new cap with the installation. Really having drama trying to solve this problem. Can't drive care more than about 1/2 a mile. HELP! ANYONE?
Hi wladja
You don't say what car you have. You are in the forum for the aluminium-bodied saloons built from 2003-9 (Jaguar model series X350). As GGG says the new header tanks come complete with pressure cap and are specific to the V8 model

wlagja,
I had my expansion tank replaced over a year ago and it came with a new cap. If you had a shop do it I would bring the car back in. If it was a DYS project I would bit the bullet and order a OEM tank and redo it. That should solve your problem.

Thanks so much for your assistance. I've ordered a new OEM pressure cap, a genuine part. I believe someone stripped the cap while putting it on as there was no suction or pressure, it just kept turning around. I hope my problem is solved. Thanks again.
