Default "Direct" Air Intake

Has anyone installed one of these on a 4.2L NA engine? If so, any + in performance? Or is this all hocus-pocus? 2004 XJ-8. Thanks.

I had something similar when I had an 04 XJ8. Cant say that it increased performance. Maybe a tiny bit better response if anything but I think it was more of a placebo effect.

You get much more engine noise and it sounds great (if you like that). Its not super loud, but you hear the proper V8 roar and also the gasp for air when the throttlebody opens. I loved it. Just need to make sure you don't cause any vacuum leaks after the MAF sensor. I didnt buy the Mina one. I bought my own filter and tube and made mine for much less $$. If you do make your own, the tube where the MAF sensor goes has to be the same diameter, otherwise it will throw off the readings and give you codes.

Why would you want a "Hot Air" intake? You want the intake air to be as cold and as dense as possible to achieve any power gain.

The air intake tube from the S Type 4.2 does not have the resonator box on it.

It lets a bit more of the motor sound be heard with an opened throttle.

You can see more of the motor without the resonator box there as well

The air temperature is the same, as well as everything else.

There is no oil to foul the mass air flow sensor from the air filter.

Not using the K & N air filters on the Jaguars for that very reason.

My motorcycles as well as my Honda Civic have no M A F sensor.

They all have used the K & N air filter for years, with no issues.
