There are four locking clips that hold the seat base in place, there are little plastic levers which you need to push to release the clip. They are pushed towards the left side of the car. See the pic below.

To release the seat back, there are two fabric straps, one on either side, pull them down and pull the top of the seat back forwards.

Be very careful when you put the seat back in again, there are pin swivel hinges that the seat back rotates on, they must be properly in when you lock the seat back in place.

You'd think a mod would make this a "how to"

Nice one Cambo

I am struggling to remove the seat back and I am trying to stick my fingers under the seat to unlock the latches but I am not finding anything despite the picture above. Is there a trick to this?

Thanx!

Has anyone ever had an issue where the top rear cushion became stuck on 1 or both sides? Pulling the release ribbon doesn't help @all.

I've found it helps to lay your shoulder into the seat back while pulling the straps to help the latches release. It does fit tight and seems to need some of the tension off the latch to fully disengage.

I'll see if that hopefully helps me. Thanks Torrid; I've not had a problem before, bit once I switched seats, 1 side will not budge. But I'll try that, pushing into it...

Push the top of the seat downwards, it's probably not sitting in the swivel hinge at the bottom properly, happened to me once.

Start on one side unlock one lever. Then hold that side of seat up because it will lock back in. And proceed to next one. this is how I did it alone. But I have the advantage of little itty bitty asian fingers!

I got so far as getting the rear seats out but can't find that small speaker for the back up parking assist. Has anyone actually themselves physically replaced it and if so where is it located? Do I have to take off the rear decklid/sun screen assembly out as well? I have never heard any clicks, but the car was used, so I have no reference point.

Remove lower seat, then remove upper seat. Remove upper C piller covers. Remove rear shelf. Seat belt will have to be loosened to feed belt out of shelf. Speaker is located on the right side, under the rear shelf.

Cambo, on my 07 XJR, the left side is seated properly in the swivel hinge at the bottom but the right side is clearly up at least a quarter inch and I can't push it down very far. When you had this problem, how much downward pressure did it take to seat it properly? It sounds like it could be more than a one person job.
