My 05 XJ8's door locks for the front passenger and rear driver's side will not lock or unlock using the FOB or lock button on the center console, but I can hear the activators being energized. Does this indicate the the activators need to be replaced? The other doors and trunk work fine with the FOB.

Can you hear the actuators energising on the non locking doors?

If so the problem is not the micro switch in the actuator which was the problem

I suggest you try replacing one actuator. They were available used. The locks are stamped FORD but you have to get the right one eg '05

BTW I think the locks are all the same except LH and RH.
