Fan runs for about 5 minutes after I shut off my XJR
I've got a '04 XJR with about 47k miles on it. I've had it for almost a year and loving every minute of it.
Recently, I've noticed the fan shuts off a good 5 minutes after I shut the car off. Never had this experience before (or at least I never noticed it), even during our brutally hot summer last year. It's not even that hot outside, so I'm wondering if this is normal or should I get it looked at.
Any thoughts?

I had the same at 48000miles - fan was running for no reason, but no other symptoms. It was the thermostat housing that was toast. Mine was replaced twice - first replacement was defective
but it was all under warranty (I think it was 500). Be careful not to over heat until it is fixed! my engine temperature got erratic after a week with the fan symptom and I was tow to the shop because I was afraid of over heating damage.
Just to update you guys that are interested, the problem went away and then re-appeared this past weekend, along with the temp gauge pegged at HOT. Immediately turned up the heat and drove with the windows down to cool things off. Then took it to my dealer.
They said the thermostat was stuck open and I had a coolant leak and they fixed it. Would have run about $800, but my warranty took care of it aside for my deductible. All is running well now, but they told me to check for further leaks which may now appear even though they pressure tested the system.
So far so good.
