Seems my 2004 XJR has decided that now is the time for the suspension to start malfunctioning. Car is rigid as hell. Front suspension seems to be at max height.
I have SDD but I'm scared to use it to recalibrate incase there is a failure with something else. Can anyone advise?
Rears seem fine. The compressor does release pressure when I park up in the driveway, can hear the hiss as it depressurises, so I assume the exhaust valve isn't blocked.
Maybe the front ride height sensor has something stuck in it? Its mounted in harms way, so maybe a leaf got in there? Sorry, I forget which side it is.
Well you have an SDD and the air suspension stuff is pretty Jaguar specific so I would suggest getting SDD hooked up and see if it will tell you anything.
It's safe to read and clear codes if your afraid to try the re-calibration procedure.
As posted above it might be a front height sensor. Also I forget what year they went to a single front height sensor? So your car could have 1 or 2 sensors as the later cars only had 1 front sensor. Easy to check with the car in the air. They are plastic and they can break and come apart.

I had the same problem, but at the rear. In the end it was a height sensor.
Recalibration after the replacement of the sensor was a bit tricky, as SDD said the the rear was out of range (it was at maximum height, same as your front shocks are), so I had to deflate and reinflate the system before the calibration worked. Can all be done with SDD.
Ouch. Im sorry. I looked at replacing a rear one on mine, but in the end I deemed it too expensive and unlikely to be guessing at. Its only a rheostat thing after all and after removing and testing, it seemed good. My personal judgement, not advising at all. Anyway, as I recall new ones were Close to $200 each range from the places I tend to go to- Barratts, Moss, and the like. I dont remember if David Manners had them, they're excellent to deal with but dont have the broadest selection.

Cheers mate. I THINK I may have ordered the last genuine sensor on the entire planet, or else I've been scammed again. Should find out in a few days haha.
