Default Fuel temp sensor

Anyone have a fuel rail temp sensor they can measure or know what the resistance range is on it? I would measure mine but it's burried too far in the back of the engine bay.

I'm looking for order of magnitude... is it 2k, or 20k, or 200k ohms at ambient or operating temp.

Thanks,
-Michael

mhamilton,

I don't have an EFT to measure for you, but maybe the pinpoint tests for the engine fuel temperature sensor may provide some helpful information. I know there's a table of voltage readings vs. temperature. The tests begin at the bottom of page 2806 of the Powertrain section of the Workshop Manual, which can be downloaded from this forum at this link:

Cheers,

Don

Thanks Don! Had never stumbled across that pinpoint test for the FTS. Actually reading a bit further down, it gives a pinpoint for the sensor itself. Apparently 500k ohms is the upper limit (coldest reading).

G549822t27 : CHECK THE COMPONENT RESISTANCE on page 2813. So that gives me some good info to go by. Thanks!

To answer the original question, I had mine out today and played with it a little with my multi-meter. At room temperature in my house, probably 74 degrees, it measured about 22,500 ohms. I put it in a cup of hot water (not boiling) and it was about 9,000 ohms. I then put it in some ice water and it was 40,000 ish ohms. I did not measure the temperatures precisely but was just measuring to see whether it was working and whether it varied a lot.
