I have a 2000 XJ8, I was driving the other day and I was heading up a hill and my transmission jerked when it changed gears. It didnt show a code or anything until a few miles later, the transmission seemed to slip then it showed a gearbox fault. Now it in its limp mode. Is the gearbox, the same thing as the transmission? I know the book calls the trunk a boot at times. I have a service shop but my computer wont check my Jag, my luck, but any suggestions as to my problem?

Hi Ralffuss
I am afraid you have posted onto the wrong forum. This one is for XJs from 2004 (US year) onwards, which is a totally different car to yours.
You need to post in the forum for XJ8 1997-2003 so you get a prompt response. However, from your symptoms it sounds like the automatic gearbox has a problem.
This site covers the US where they call things different names, as you have found out, - transmission = gearbox, hood = bonnet, trunk = boot etc.

Are there any other major faults with this particular model I should know about?
