Default GPS

I am trying to find newer map DVD discs for my GPS. Mine are 2005-2006.. not much good. I did find some for 2011-2014 maps, but they do not seem to work. So effectively my GPS is useless, in my 2006 XJ8L Can i up grade the reader as well? to a 2010 or newer? would it plug and play? Or am i just stuck with using an after market GPS system Thank you for your help

Question

Was wondering about that myself, as my 07 VDP thinks we have run off the road any time we go down a new piece of road that was not there in 07.

Can you be a bit more specific? Are you sure you bought correct discs for your model/year car, as I am pretty sure 2012 is the newest version that was produced for our version of the XJ? If the 2006 disc is working, then there is no reason why the correct newer disc won't. If it helps, here is a link to where you can order the correct authentic disc. A few years ago, I updated the 2004 DVD disc in my 2004 to the last one produced (2012). It took an hour or two for the disc to do much of anything on the screen, and even after that, it the navigation was rather slow booting until it seemed to have primed the cache.
