Headlamp replacement
My headlight went out recently in my 2005 XJR and the dealer told me that i needed a new headlamp and was quoted $2,010. Does anyone know where I could buy the part (C2C22631) or of any good Jag mechanics in the Washington DC area? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
If you are working on a budget, used ones are on ebay frequently but if you prefer new, several forum sponsors such as Nalley Jaguar offer discounts. Also places like Welsh and Conventry East, Jag Bits might be able to offer good pricing.
Depends on what went wrong. Assuming the service department knows what they are doing they probably determined a bad ballast, which comes with the entire assembly. Used ballasts can be found but I would not risk it.
It should be fixable. Bulbs & ballasts are easy to replace. If the adjusted tabs are broken, then you will need to bake the headlight to get it apart before you repair them. Either way, you can repair this for 5-10% of what the dealer is asking for. If you go the fleabay route, make sure you get a replacement that has intact adjusters, most come from cars that have been in a wreck and a lot of the adjusters are broken....
