Heater Core Rant (do not buy from RockAuto)
Just a word of warning. Do not buy a heater core from RockAuto They have part OSC 99336 listed. I received it only to find out that it is the wrong size, and the ports are in the wrong position. I waited more than 30 days before doing the job, and now RockAuto refuses to accept a return. I plead my case, stated that this is not the correct part, their website database is incorrect. Their customer service specialist said no returns after 30 days, no exceptions. Never mind the fact that the part is not the right part. I've sent several emails to customer service, they have since decided to ghost me. I spent nearly $10,000 on parts over the last several years, and now they're going to screw me over a $60 part.
New heater core is on it's way from dealership, lesson learned.
On the plus side, the heater core job is going rather smoothly, I only spent 2 hours getting it out.

I think the warning is to not hold a part past the return time. Make sure it's right before that expires. I'm holding a Miata HVAC blower because I didn't need it, but waited nearly two months after it arrived before swapping it out, only to discover the old one was packed with leaves and other detritus, and worked fine after cleaning it out. At least my part was the right one, and I was able to unload it on fleabay.
It's unfortunate that the part was not as described, and that is RockAuto's fault, but you held it too long, and that's your fault.

I have bought new parts well in advance to the time I was going to do the job. I've had a similar issue with R/A. As the part wasn't exactly right. They are quite a bit cheaper than my local NAPA parts store. It wasn't much money so I just overlooked it. On the other hand, I wanted a new radiator for my '96 Mustang, I checked R/A. and saw some there for 100.00, but I needed it sooner and bought it from my local NAPA dealer. It was 300.00, but when it arrived, I opened the damaged box and found some minor damage to the fins, and refused it. They replaced it and I got my new replacement a couple of days later. Sometimes the better and quicker service is worth the extra money. I have had a long relationship with my local store and they knocked 25.00 off the radiator for the delay. I try to buy a few bigger ticket items at this store, If we don't support our local businesses they will disappear.
