Default Delanair 2 evap and heater matrix

I see evidence of a coolant leak at one of the heater matrix tubes-crusty deposits on the stuff below it. I am visualizing a new heater core and probably A/C evaporator while I'm in there. I am having zero luck finding a new evaporator. Amazon shows a Four Seasons unit but doesn't give a vendor and the Four Seasons website has zero listing for my car-not even the part # given by Amazon.

Do any of you folks have any ideas of where I might find the evaporator and heater core? Thanks.

Dave

Google AEU1191 Jaguar for the evaporator and AEU1195 Jaguar for the heater core and see what comes up

Also, sometimes your local radiator shop can repair these units

Cheers

Thanks for those two numbers, I checked every one and found a heater core at etypeparts.com but no one had an evaporator, either "no longer available" or "special order" or none in stock. I guess I'll just see what I've got when I pull them out. The only reason I mentioned replacing the evaporator came from a how-to post on J-L where he felt that one should just replace the evaporator as a matter of course while you are in there replacing the heater core. I have never had an evap go bad in any car/truck I've ever had, is there a particular reason I should replace one in a Jaguar if there is no evidence of leaks?

There hasn't been any coolant or refrigerant in either system for 15 years, if I turn down my air pressure to, say 10lbs, could I pressurize each core and use a little soap/water to look for leaks?

Thanks for the web addresses Greg. I checked "techchoiceparts" and they say it's discontinued. "Justjagsuk" says ".....ETA unknow, call for more information". I found the heater core for a good price and that's what is leaking. If the evaporator doesn't show signs of leaking with a little air pressure on it, I'm not inclined to replace it.

I'm going to add those two web site to my very long bookmark list for future use. Thanks for your time.

There's no reason for the evaporator to start leaking, as it doesn't get exposed to any corrosive medium, unlike the condenser at the front of the car, which tends to get a lot of water and salty water thrown at it. So condenser replacements are fairly common, not so the evaporators. As for the heater matrix, this is best replaced

Evaporator is expensive, and you'd have to wait.

It's comforting to hear your assessment on the evaporator, they appear to be very expensive if I could find one. With a new heater core on the way, I will take the Delanair unit out and look everything over. I've read that the foam/rubber seals in various places deteriorate and should be replaced. I'm familiar with the process.

Thanks for your input Fraser,

Dave

The evap core does not corrode; but it does fail mechanically, as there are about 10 little pipes going from the large inlet/outlet ones to distribute and collect the gas across the matrix. Mine failed in this way.

Would a little air pressure identify any leaks?

I do not see why not, but I suspect Vac would be better, and leave it overnight, if the vac has gone you know it is faulty.
