help ID harness connection near airbox

2004 xj8 - can anyone tell me what the connector is mounted next to the air filter box? I found the harness unplugged from what appears to be a dummy plug, with no obvious ill effect. The 2-wire harness that was dangling branches from the same harness that goes to the hood latch switch. I just acquired the car and don't know if prior owner unplugged this for a reason or if it was left loose by accident during some service.

At a guess, the plug for the secondary intake (flapper valve) that the XJRs have in the airbox. Not needed on the XJ8. Photo would help, is it around this area:

Yes you are right it's for the air flap on the r model

Sorry about lack of a photo. Newbie in a rush!. The connector is indeed the one shown above. Do we know if the female part it plugs into is just a weather cap or if it contains a dummy resistor?
