I'm trying to r and r a gear selector part number C2C36038 on a 2005 XJ8L Jaguar. The selector won't go back into park and I'm sure some parts broke inside the selector. I was able to remove the trim piece and the four star bit screws. Just can't seem to get it removed and then replace with the one I've ordered off ebay.

 

Been curious about this job for a while now.
Have read its supposed to be simple.
Did not see it that way, when i looked.

 

Is this what you have in mind? Trying to replace the shifter cover/facia only
The only thing that was broke in mine was the black plastic J-gate outline (barely visible under the chrome piece), so I am not sure if this is of any help.
