Default Higher Volume on CD vs radio - Why?

Can anyone give me some input as to why the volume on my 2004 Vanden Plas is so weak on the radio setting and only a little better with Cd the playing. I will say the volume is much more robust and with fuller sound such as bass tones with the CD playing but the radio volume and tones are nearly pathetic. As always, thanks in advance.

My audio system functions the same way you have described. I have the standard audio system. Do you have the Alpine premium audio system?

Frequency range is wider using cds than radio reception, both on the low and upper ends.

So is there any way to boost the volume on the radio or is it just what it is on these cars? Thanks!
