Homelink Not Linking
Hello,
I read in the archives that some cars have had issues pairing to rolling code garage door openers, and I believe my '08 R is on that path. Not sure why its taken me this long to attempt this setup in my car, but such is life!
I read that one lister contacted homelink for a reception enhancer (de-scrambler??), but I wanted to see if anyone had any tricks to try (outside of the manual instructions).
I tried it more than four times, even on two different openers (albeit the same type, just on another door), and no dice.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jeff

I have had no luck with the listed instructions. I've called Homelink a few times. I wrote up a lengthy How to for an 03 X308 VDP. I set up my last 04 XJ8 just before I sold it and I had to use the learn button on both of my openers to get them to link up. I picked up the current 04 XJR and need to do the same with it. The Homelink folks are easy to work with and usually get it right, right away if you want to go that route. I think I may start up another How to for the X350 as this will be the third one for me. I didn't expect to go through four different Jags so quickly, but trying to find the right one for me is the goal. Best of luck.

no no, by GD I mean Garage Door, not ....
I just had to go thru it again when my son replaced his old garage door opener and I wanted to re-program my car's button number 3 for his door.
After a frustrating hour or so I re-searched the archives and learned that in order to program a button, you need to clear all previously stored codes. Manual tells how to do that. Unfortunately you can't just clear one button, the process given in the manual clears all three. Once I did that, I was able to program button #3 for my son's door per the manual. Unfortunately, because the other buttons had also been erased, when I got home I couldn't open my own door, and had to re-program it. Biggest problem there was the initial step of getting it to recognize my hand-held remote - had to put a fresh battery in the handheld.
So try 1) erase all previously codes and 2) put new battery in your hand-held clicker.
Good luck! (and it does seem to require luck!)
