My 2004 XJ8 hood release cable is broken somewhere. I pull on the hood release lever and its loose. I looked under the dash and it still connected to the lever with the ball on the end. I looked through the grill and it seems like its still connected to the left and rights release mechanisms(no loose cables just hanging). I've researched the site and heard of getting under the car, reaching up and pulling each mechanism to the left to release the hood....

1. Has anyone had any luck with this idea?
2. If the cable needs to be replaced, is it something that can be somewhat easily replaced.

 

well i can guarantee you its not easy. nothing is easy to replace on our cars.

 

There are times when I think someone should implement the "Like" buttons on the forums.

read your 'hood release cable broken' from 2010. Wonder if you might remember how you got it open. My 2007 XJ8 cable just broke and haven't found any solutions yet.
