Default How do you remove the left AC vent on drivers side?

the silver piece seems to have broken and I think it needs to be replaced. Does anyone know if I can replace just the silver part or do I need a complete unit? thanks

Parts lists it as an entire vent assembly. Do you still have the piece or is it lost? If you still have it you can reattach it if you don't have it then to remove the assembly, you have to first remove the center console, the hump in the middle of the wood dash, then gently pry the wood dash cover off, then remove the instrument cluster, then remove the vent. The reason for all of this on the driver's side is because part of the vent is screwed in behind the cluster, silly engineers, as this apparently is a common repair. The passenger side is a piece of cake.

Hey jahummer,
Can you tell me what needs to come out to remove the passenger side vent? Mine has the same problem, with the silver piece broken.
Thanks,

Thanks,
That's the easy one. Pull the wood airbag cover off towards you (I used a 90 degree metal pry tool and a piece of card stock to protect the wood), remove the two screws holding the plastic cover to the left of the vent, remove the 2 screws holding the vent in place on the left and pull out the vent, disconnect the power cable for the vent illumination. Piece of cake in just a few minutes. The part number for the entire assembly is C2C010039 for the right and 40 for the left and should cost you around $113.

If you still have the button and depending on how it came off, you don't necessarily need to do any of the as it is not too hard to just press it back in place, you'll probably need something to hold to the back of the black plastic mount the button attaches too. Just press it on and it should stay or use a bit of glue.

Good luck.
