Hello,

The engine undertray on my 2004 XJ8 came loose and cracked. I removed it. How important is it to replace ? I don't plan to go off roading in it and the car runs fine without it. To replace it is upwards of $500 according to 2 shops in my area.

Thoughts ?

 

Try and repair it on your own.

Consider using thin sheet metal and rivets... front under tray is rather important.

 

I bought a used one off Craigslist for something like $125 shipped from TX to MN. The seller was a wrecker that had several and had no issues with shipping. An option.

 

Mine was almost in three bits and full of other cracks. Looked at the price of new ones and couldn't find a second hand one so repaired the one I had
I used galvanized metal strap, rivets and araldite, bumper paint and now its not far off as good as new.
