It took a couple hours and a lot of elbow grease to the entire hood done, but I feel it's worth it now! You be the judge.
Wish mine shined like that
I lent my polisher and carpet cleaning machine to my mate looking at yours I need to get it back and give mine some respect
Looks awesome

I have the same water spots on my hood (bonnet) and they never go away. Would love to know if someone has been able to fix it.

Hey Doc,
I'm glad I did. I didn't realize how much it detracted from the appearance until after I was done and saw the gleam! Hop to it!

I can offer this as the best instructional as I didn't take any pics other than the ones posted. Here's the link to the head light lens clouding https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ng-how-120294/. I used wet sanding, rubbing compound, polishing compound, and a good wax.

I used the polishing compound first and that took care of most of them. There were some spots that needed more attention so I used the rubbing compound on them and then another application with the polishing compound.

I used the Meguiar's Ultimate polishing compound on this application as opposed to the Turtle Wax as I ran out and wanted to try this.

http://i.walmartimages.com/i/p/00/07...16_500X500.jpg is a pic of the bottle. This can be done by hand, but it would take A LOT longer than using a buffer. Well worth the $35 investment IMHO. Don't be fooled with the TV ads telling you it as easy as wiping on and off. The hood took me about two hours to get done and that's not including the waxing stage.

I hope this helps and you can DIY or take it to a body shop and get a quote from them for the job. Then you can decide what is worth more to you.

The girls liked it.

Thumper could be a fitting name for a black Jaguar.

Ragman,

For your consideration, here are some "strong" female names that might suit a black XJR:

Ingrid
Greta
Gretel
Maeve
Petra
Hesperus (species of the Western Black Widow, genus Latrodectus)
Anja / Anya
Astrid
Beatrix
Brunhilde
Erika
Gitta / Gitte
Hedda
Helga
Inge / Inga
Karla
Magda
Mila
Natascha
Sabine
Silke
Ursula
Veronika / Veronica
Viktoria / Victoria
Yvonne

Or, given your recent track record, perhaps you should make things easy on yourself and just give your Jaguars sequential numerical names and call this one "Five."

Cheers,

Don

What about Seven?

It's a beautiful name, especially a girl...

Thanks folk s for the options. There are four that I'm seriously considering. One from my FB page, one from here, and two I came up with. None have had that "moment of genius" (to me) so I'm not sure I should pick one and have it not be just right. However, as I'm Irish, Scottish, German, & Spanish, I was looking for the translations of the word "five" as someone mentioned. None of them looked like what I wanted, but I forgot to look up five in Gaelic.

Thanks to all for the suggestions and keep em coming! Don B has a list that I have chosen one from that I liked for her. Anya...

Other names:
Maya / Nina.

Mostly because I could totally see Nina Simone driving an XJR haha

Gaelic probably won't cut it for you "cúig". Consider Dropping Nina and go with Simone. Tribute a great Jazz singer and Southern Bell.

She's a beauty.

Agreed, but I learned that with counting in Gaelic, you need to add an "A" before each number, pronounced "uh". Phonetically, A Cúig (uh KOO-ig): Five. Still not what I'm looking for. I have it narrowed down to two and don't want to jump the gun just yet. I am going to give her some time to tell me before I tell her...

Congratulations on your purchase! Looks like a very nice XJR!

I have an 05 VDP with ebony exterior and think that color on Jags is great.
