Default Quality Shift Knob

I recently purchased a shift knob from a shop on Etsy called BritishCarWoodwork. I am very pleased with the craftsmanship and I really like the Coventry logo. It also matches my woodwork better than the original as you can see in the picture. He has several options available with and without logos in various woods. This is the link to the shop. He sometimes closes for a week or so to catch up with orders as I believe he is a one man show. https://www.etsy.com/shop/BritishCar...?ref=shop_sugg

Very nice shifting knob, do they just unscrew?
One of mine is cracked, but am hesitant to try twisting it very hard.
A broken shifter knob, would be much worse than a cracked one

It seems the British Car Wood guy is out on vacation, I'll keep looking when he is back, will buy a matching knob for sure, it looks fantastic! Thank you Jetset68! The interior repairs will have to wait two weeks, I'll be flying overseas next week.

Anyway Jinxie will receive some grooming tomorrow, I'll try to change a parking light, whoever designed these headlight units deserves some punishment in after life.

I take that last sentence back. Changing the bulbs is a breeze as soon as you understand how the socket plug works. You just have to squeezed the upper part and pull out the socket.

Just push up the lower part and pull.

New LED bulbs.

Yes, it just unscrews. You have to hold the metal portion steady below the knob to unscrew it. The pliers in the picture lined up with the holes and enabled me to loosen the knob.

That knob is beautiful, may I please ask what the diameter of the 'JAGUAR COVENTRY' badge insert. I would like to make my own knob from a burl I have and the badge just finishes it off very nicely. Hopefully I can purchase one from the seller.

Sorry for the Delay Bob, I was away from the car. I measured the badge insert and it is 1 inch in diameter.

I ordered a burl knob. The leaper match the one in the analog clock. $ 88.00 and free shipping. Will let you know when installed. Thank you Jetset68. If anybody need a regular knob let me know and I’ll ship it to you.

I bought this very same knob from him many years ago. It was beautiful. If you request it, he may be able to add a bit more weight to the knob to give it a more hefty feel, if that floats your boat.

Thanks Jetset68, I had guessed the badge was around 25mm and you have confirmed this for me.

I’m in Dubai until Monday. Will take Jinxie to Rivero Interior this Tuesday. He’s supposed to have made the floor mats by then and should have the interior done by Thursday. Haven’t heard nothing from the knob guy yet. I think the size of the OEM knob is right, the wood that does not match is not. I wonder why Jaguar were so careless on the wood veneer commonality. Attention to details is what makes a car unique and desirable. And Jaguars are all about desire. Will keep you posted on the interior. Season 3 will be mechanical, I feel the car a little rough when driving, compared with my previous 04 XJ8 and my current W210s and Buick Roadmaster.

MBJAJ wondered;

Believe your questions answer is Ford Motor Company.
They did make them reliable, so you get to your destination, & back home, without a tow truck though.
Lucas electrical components, were often less than reliable, to say the least

You are much better off with the work you have done to Jinxie. I clicked the link, because I was bored, and noticed in the dealer pics the headliner is in need of replacement. Even worse, if you look closely at the drivers A pillar near the sun visor, you can see evidence of a nasty sunroof leak and what looks like a hole in the headliner at the sun visor mount. Looks like there may be some wetness there from a pre-photoshoot car wash. Bet that carpet has been soaked several times. Anyhow, if an obvious leak like that has not been corrected I am sure there are a lot of things wrong with that cat. Seriously, I know used car prices are at a premium right now but that dealer should have fixed that headliner. It's not hard to do or have done. That's just lazy.

Good eye, @FreeWifi

Nice looking VP otherwise. Perhaps @MBJAG would have been willing to deal with all of the water ingress headaches in exchange for the wool floor mats!

MBJAG: that's just $9,950 worth of unknown hidden headaches you're looking at.
Jinxie is your baby now, and you've been over most every inch of her already.
Unless maybe you're a serial cat rescue type of guy...
