Default I like my wheels, but chrome is better!

I have always liked the wheels on my XJ8, but wished they were chrome. That is a wish to come true in the near future. Getting new tires, so I thought this was the perfect time to get new wheels too!

I prefer the stock finish, I think chrome was cool back in the 90's, not so much now.

Well here they are along with new Hankook Ventus V4 tires. I love the wheels and the tires give a ride better than when the car was new. Smooth AND quiet. Glad to get rid of the Pirelli P6 tires!

(Sorry about the pix at the QT!)

Each to his own, but I find chrome wheels too bling/ricer looking, whilst simultaneously making the car look dated. As long as you are happy though, that's really all that matters.... Got to say the body color (Seafoam?) is my favorite...

Looks nice and clean, but I have to say, you are about 3 years too late to the chrome wheels party. They are really going out of style, you can find all those blingy wheels on ebay for less and less these days.

Lew, I have to disagree with a couple posts above. I LIKE the chrome wheels and I think they compliment the vehicle very nicely!

I like the look of chrome but I think it takes too much attention from the beauty of the lines of the car. But the best wheels are the one you like. period

Yes, to each his own, I agree. I thought of going to a larger wheel, but I still wanted the comfortable ride that more rubber between the road and the wheel gives. The only car that rides smoother than my XJ is my Rolls. It has nitrogen sphere suspension and 15" (chrome) wheels. I always liked the look of the Winter wheel because it doesn't show too much of the brake disks. Some like the open look of the wheel, but I do not. Same reason I like the Double Five wheels on my XKR. A lot of the new cars these days still come with chrome wheels. I guess I just like cars with chrome on them better than the monocolor look. Yea, I like the 58 Buick!!

There's a lot to be said for the Jag OEM silver sparklel coating on their mag wheels. It looks like platinum. A very classie look, says I, IMHO. Put a little Armoral wheel protectant on em and they look wet, collect no dust and please the "old fart crowd".

Agreed, those are stunning. I'm normally ambivalent about chromes but the XJ350 is conservative enough looking that it can afford a little spice imho!

I use XJR OEM pads and they are noted for making brake dust that sticks to the wheels. A good wheel protectant spray coat keeps brake dust and a wide range of other stuff off the wheels. It lasts for about 3 washes and gives the wheels a special sheen to boot.

Give it a try.

I am using ceramic pads on both of my Jags now and virtually no brake dust is created.

Lol you also told me that I should get the chrome stuff for my mirrors as well as the mesh grill, so I got the mesh grill but chrome covers for my mirrors

That shows how much you love chrome, don't get me wrong though I'm a huge fan too, If I could get the whole car chrome plated I would, I don't know if you recall but in 2003 when Jag came up with the new XJ they showed a chrome version of it, it was super cool.
