Default Icar data scare

Replaced my battery tonight. When checking my charging system after the famous christmas tree with my Icar, it didn't go at all well at first. In fact it scared the crap out of me.
I looked up live streaming data on the following:
Potential undercharge voltage = no
Potential overcharge voltage = no
Voltage = 16.5v !!!!!!!!
This was AFTER warm up, and nothing on. This for shure was telling me the reason I needed a new battery. My Alt must have cooked it bone dry and to a crisp.
Now I was even more depressed. I needed to fork out the cash for a new Alt. and labor, as I'm not set up right now to raise the engine and rip it out of the bottom at home.
The voltage was steady as a rock 16.5v, everything off, everything on. Then I had to do the simple thing.... Put a volt meter on the battery while running, to confirm my nightmare. Wouldn't you know, 13.9ish everything on and off.
I found live data "voltage FROM module" reading 13.9v. the only thing I can think of, is that having a "smart charging system" sends higher voltage to the ECM. The ECM then regulates it to a normal charging/user voltage. As far as I have read, the ECU regulates the voltage.
It's just a guess.
It just goes to show you that old school still works. I think I'll sleep well tonight, knowing that my trusty volt meter may have saved the day.

Sounds like the iCar is wrong. By all means report it to them as a bug.

The "ECM" (PCM) does not receive 16.5V I think you'll find.
