Default Ignition No power from position 2

2004 X350 / AJ33 Car went through a carwash and died. Cranked but would not restart. Found moisture in engine module ( under glovebox at firewall.) Took it apart and dried it for days.

Reinstalled. Now ignition position 1 powers windows, radio, etc. But in position 2, NO power at all . No cluster. No gear selector release. Nothing.
And position 3 (start) activates nothing.

Tried: Battery disconnected and charged and reconnected. Reset inertia button. Activated lock/alarm from inside car with fob and used key in ignition to deactivate, indicating good exciter communication.
I'm hoping it might be something basic ?, because I don't want to gut the steering column.

Hi projectpush,

I've only got a minute so I can't look at the schematics for you, but my first suspicion would be a blown fuse due to the water shorting something.

You can download the 2004 X350 Electrical Guide here:

http://www.jagrepair.com/images/Elec...al%20Guide.pdf

The schematics may give you some clues as to what fuses are involved in Position 2 power to narrow down your search.

I'll check back later tonight to see if you've made any progress or if others have been able to offer any other ideas.

Cheers,

Don

I have proper power out from ignition switch in each position, including when key is in crank position. Checking fuse blocks more closely.

Was it the drain holes in the plastic in front of the windscreen? They do clog with leaf debris and cause flooding. That might give you a clue as to where the water went.

If you tip a couple of pints down each side you can see if it is draining. open the hatch where you change the cabin filter.
