P0560 could be the root of all evil! What does your reader see as voltage at the OBD connector? It can also indicate a short/open in the CAN bus circuit which may not be seen at the port.

Had similar issue. Restricted performance and transmission fault. Was able to limp home and park car in garage. After some research, came across Technical Service Bulleting XJ307-08. Looked under 04 Vanden Plas and the one of the bolts was lying on the ground. No wonder it would not start and I could not put it in Park. Might want to check this bulletin.

Arrow P0560 System Voltage and superfluous DTC's

Yes Griff,
I have not heard from you in quite a while about sorting this problem, did you ever get the car to respond?

I thought about you when I had my 05 L on my lift for an oil change and new headlight bulbs this past weekend, and to go over the laundry list of codes these cars can generate that have absolutely nothing to do with some of the codes generated.

These cars suffer from low voltage triggering all sorts of issues and causing destruction or failure of components from the low voltage. Many codes are generated when the first system checks are done with the key-on, others are results of an action like twisting the key to start, moving a seat, turning on the radio or climate controls.

At this point is when a good battery, a proper diagnostic power supply and the volt/ohm meter is needed, along with IDS and a VCM that is guaranteed compatible with the full range of functions of the diagnostic program. I've never used the diagnostic program you have so I do not know it's capability in delivering reliable information. the OEM Ford IDS has the ability to work on individual codes of the three different communication busses - focus on a particular area.

12.5 volts absolute minimum to each component with good grounds on the aluminum bodied cars is critically important for operation. Second most critical is, no real diagnostics should be carried out without a proper diagnostic service power supply - that is NOT a standard battery charger - but a power supply that can supply 30-40 amps at a regulated constant adjustable voltage of at least 13.2 VDC, better is 13.8 VDC.

Without that bare minimum you can very quickly dive down all sorts of rabbit holes and really waste your time for days and months.

Anyway, still here to help, but today I'm bagging leaves
