Default Jaguar Super V8 pricing

Hi All,

I have been on the lookout for another XJ since my mechanic totaled mine last year. What should I look out for on a 2007 Jaguar Super V8? What kind of offer should I make on a vehicle of this age? I checked KBB and the range for this car is anywhere from 15-19k.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,
Mike

Dealers typically use NADA, not KBB. NADA puts this car @ $16825 clean retail and than adds $6575 for a low mileage premium. Value based on NADA is $23400. Remember, dealers buy and sell cars at auction all the time using NADA and site unseen.

Assuming the car has a full maintenance history available so you know what's been fixed, the car is priced fairly.

Your advantages are that we're heading into winter and this is not what most people want for winter driving. I would find out how long it's been for sale as well. That will tell you how motivated they are. Cargurus usually shows days on market

If not already done, substract the following:
All suspension bushings
Transmission fluid change

Check the following:
Rubber hoses including the valley hose
Engine code history (DTCs)
brake pads and rotors
Compressor & air bags for the air suspension
smog readings-high levels may indicate problems

Sorry, I misread the ask. My thoughts above are based on complete PPI and will add to the list from mberman:

Maintenance history is very important here to check what he outlined was done.

To elaborate, time will wear out the bushings, not just mileage. Make sure they are all sound as they cost you.

Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years.

Coolant flushed every 5 years. Coolant is Dexcool and will clog the heater core. Bring an IR thermometer with you and confirm the temp on the drivers side is equal to the passenger side. The coolant has a unique smell and if you smell it in the engine bay you have a leak.

ZF recommends a transmission oil change every 80 000 to 120 000 km, or after 8 years at the latest, so age on this one too.

Ensure the car has not been moved or running for at least 24 hours so you can see if the suspension has leaks. Best check it on a cold day too.

Brake pads/ rotors will not likely be a problem and are not expensive. (relative)

Check the headliner for sag.

Check the headlights for flicker.

BTW...
consider purchasing an extended warranty before the end of 2017. After 10 years old, almost non existent at any price.
