Hello everyone,


Please can someone help. I have a brake issue with my X350.


I changed the brakes all round about 400 miles ago.


Just recently when I started the car the pedal travel before any biting point for the brakes had more than doubled. It's just like there is nothing there at all until I get to the biting point.


I have also noticed that with the engine off the brake pedal does not go rock hard and allows the pedal to travel to the floor. Please correct me if i'm wrong as I've always thought the pedal should have no travel when the engine is off?


Finally with this issue I have no warning lights whatsoever.


Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

What type of brake work did you do? Did you replace calipers, rotors, and/or pads?

 

Sounds like air in the brake system. Has the brake fluid been bled off?

Now if you have had the ABS controller disconnected and managed to get air in them, that would be hard to expel. You would almost assuredly have to use the right scan tool (IDS/SDD or other capable scan tools) to help you bleed the ABS controller.

 

Sounds like air in the system. Look for a leak. Start with the fluid bleed thingies.


It's normal to have a firmer pedal after engine start.
