Default Jaguarnet

Hello everyone, fist I'm sorry if this subject has already been posted, please foreword me to the thread.

I would like to know what jaguarnet really is, I have already have talked to my dealer here in Germany and they said that they can't tell me exactly what it is. Why ? Because he said, I've never seen this option on a touchscreen. The mechanical chief's words. My XJR is a uk import (RHD). It would be nice if someone could lecture me about jaguarnet. When I press the buttons, nothing works. Is this a service where I must subscribe ? If yes how much dose it cost ? What kind of info do I get when the info button is pressed ?

Thanks in advance, Daniel.

Hello Daniel,

I think Jaguarnet is a car assistance service similar to the OnStar service on Cadillac cars. It uses a cell phone and GPS locator in the car to call an assistance center if you are in an accident or require roadside assistance.

Here is a description I found online:

http://www.drivehq.com/web/jfenley/E...Telematics.pdf

I do not know what countries this works in. Maybe only the UK?

An excerpt from the link I posted above:

Telematics
System / Component Description
The vehicle emergency message system (JaguarNet) al
lows a user to request emergency assistance (police,
ambulance, fire) or roadside assistance. Also, if an
y of the vehicle's airbags are deployed while Jagua
rNet is
operational, the system automatically issues a call
for emergency assistance.
1 . The JaguarNet consists of four components: VEMS mo
dule...

In Canada, they say to just call the 24hr toll free Jaguar Assist phone number if your car breaks down and you need a tow.

Thanks for the fast reply,

I've checked the system options on my car (hold phone and menu button until the screen tells you to input the pin. The pin on uk models is 1971) and I've got the VEMS module, the only thing is missing is the button on the roof console near the sunroof button. Road Assistence would be a nice thing, (to impress the ladies at least ^_^ ) is it possible to not have it just because I'm missing the button on the roof console ?
