What do the people do when they "remap" a car?

Thanks

Long day for me as I had no sleep the day before, so the 260 mile run home was interesting, lol
Got it done asap, the remap helped me homewards just a little quicker

Good peeps, nice cars and some decent craic, good day all round

Chuck - a remap on our cars involves playing around with and altering the original "map" on the ECU
Usually when vehicles are delivered from new there is an original map on it, this is generally a generic version for various countries / climates etc and always errs on the side of caution.

These maps are always on the lower side of what's available in terms of bhp and torque with a massive safety margin included.
Our cars with 204bhp as standard can generally be "remapped" to anywhere from 240bhp - 270bhp quite safely releasing the "reserve" if you like.

It's generally done through the OBD port communicating with the ECU, takes around an hour or so
Danny and Chris went for the Blue "hybrid" map for combination of power and economy, with DPF and EGR delete running approx 258bhp and around 550Nm of torque

I had the Red remap also with DPF and EGR delete and am approx. 270bhp and 570Nm of torque, quite some difference from standard I can tell you

Jim,
Thanks for your time in writing and explanation.

I knew it sounded to good for me--I was ready to start looking for a place for the remap....only problem----I don't have a turbo or a diesel.

Glad you guys over the pond have a choice. I understand that Jaguar is planning a diesel for the States this or next year. If I live long enough, one might be in my future.

Thanks again and Cheers......
