Default leak on the differential drive output shaft seal

It appears that my (140000 km.) 2007 Vanden Plas has developed a leak on the differential drive output shaft (drivers side).

If someone can advise as to what the part number is (for this seal) and optionally where to get one, that would be awesome..... and if anyone feels like feel free to describe the disassembly procedure required to get to the seal (then I wouldn't even be able to express my gratitude, it would be beyond words)

It would also be nice if someone can advise as to what may have caused this issue ?

What is the location of the vent/breather?

What is the spec for the differential oil? (preferably something i don't have to get at the dealer)

Thanks, best regards.

Hi, if you haven't changed the seal yet, try changing the fluid; sometimes that will fix the problem. I am trying to find an article on that subject, no luck. The filler plug is damn near inaccessible. You will have to suck the fluid out.
good luck
Pete

Try looking in the X308 section. It has been discussed multiple times.

Thank you for replying gentlemen. I've changed the fluid with Mobil1 75w140 (synthetic) - as per instruction on all data (i filled it right to the top) but it didn't fix the problem. On the contrary, the leakage was much grater for a while ( I guess until it leaked out below the seal).... In any case; I bought a new seal ($22 at the dealer here in Ottawa Canada) and I'll change it once there are a few warm days in a row (which won't be anytime soon around here). I will update once the job is done.
