Default Linux for SDD

For the Linux geeks on the forum: can you give a brief run through of using SDD on Linux? I can use a thumb drive to open Ubuntu but I’m not certain how the files once unzipped which are .ova, .ovf, and vmdk are applicable ?

There are tons of large SDD threads and you will get much better answers if you use one of those to ask questions on?
