Is there anyone with the SPA ad VDF files for v131, who is willing to share?

 

I am running JLR SDD 163 on my 2003 XK8 using a laptop with Windows 10 and I connect with no issues

 

In my 2003 XK8, I am using SDD version 163 with a Mongoose on a Windows 10 laptop and it communicates fine and gives me a lot of information

 

Can you provide me with a copy or tell me where to get one?

 

I can tell you what I did. I went to a website reference below and ordered a JLR Mongoose. They said it came with free software. It had a disc with version 160 on it but I let them into my computer from the UK using Teamviewer and they loaded everything while I watched and communicated using WhatsApp on my smartphone.
THe Mongoose came from China I believe so I was a little worried at first but all has been fine and they offer pretty good support.

Do you currently have a working SDD?
The update process inside SDD will download all those files and unless you know the EXACT files your looking for no one will be able to help because there 10,000+ files or more when talking about SPA and VDF files.

Do you have the file numbers for what your looking for? I have helped a few people if they can provide which file they are looking for?
I run V160 so my experience has been with that version only.

I'm quite new here. I am working on my step father's S-Type (X200), 1999, V8.
We had to change the instrument cluster. Now I need to re-programm the keys so the car can start.
I purchased a Mongoose pro cable, with the SDD 131 soft.
Cable and soft works on my 2005 Discovery 3. But it tells me I need the IDS soft for the Jag.

Reading here, it seems I need the IDS 118.5
So far, I did not find a place to download it. Any hints ?

And do you know if the Mongoose Pro cable works with this version of IDS ?

Believe a genuine Mongoose should work.
With almost any software

 

A Mongoose type 'passthrough' devise needs SDD125 OR LATER.
You CANNOT use IDS software unless you have a Rotunda VCM.

Looking at the files you provided, I could also read that a Drewtech Mongoose cable can work with a X200 Jaguar S-Type. It states :
"Vehicle line fully supported (DTC Read/Clear, Parameter Monitoring, Module Programming)"
Which is quite the contrary of what you says. Strange ?

There is also a detailled note :
"NOTE: Module programming for 1995-1997MY Jaguar XJ (X300), 1997-2006MY Jaguar XK (X100), and 2000-2008MY Jaguar S-TYPE vehicles will be supported with the launch of IDS-DVD126 (June 2011)."
Since I have a 1999 S-Type, It is still very shadowy to me.

I will carry on looking for a IDS 118.5 and try it myself. Let's see if anyone can provide the soft.

 

The Mongoose type pass thru uses SDD.

SDD is SUPPOSED to revert to Legacy IDS for an OLDER car.

I bought a DrewTech Mongoose Pro a decade ago and used SDD 130 to diagnose the OBDII Jaguars. (1995 onward)

I finally found a used Rotunda VCM and used IDS 118.5 for my shop.
I sold my Mongoose Pro to a forum member because I don't work on the newer Jaguars. I left the dealer in 2006 so I only work on cars up to about that MY.

A VCM will support IDS as well as SDD to a certain point.

The Mongoose WILL NOT support IDS 118.5.(SDD125 onward)

Is there any version of the Rotunda VCM cable and soft ?

I have seen VCM, VCM 2 and VCM 3 cables on the net and I don't want to be messed up if I decide to buy such diag cable + soft.

Only the original VCM (with in and out cables) will work with IDS. (all versions from DVD42 to IDS118.5)

VCM 2 is not compatible as far as I know.(never tried one)

SDD cables are much easier to find and the software SHOULD revert to Legacy IDS so it is more cost effective to try that as opposed to finding a proper VCM.

I prefer IDS (or WDS) because that is what I was trained on and used at the dealer. SDD was issued LONG after I left the dealer so I have no info on it.

 

Some years ago, I attached my (chinese) mongoose pro with 1.30 to a S-Type and started SDD.
As it recognised the VIN, it automatically started IDS and all worked.

I had to use a native PC, as IDS seems to have trouble with virtual machines.

 

I'd like to have SDD 131 SPA (additionaö pinpoiny tests) installation files - anyone, I can provide upload link if needed.
