Default Looking at a 2008 XJ8

A local seller has a 2008 with 95K miles for about half the low Kelly Blue Book at 4.5K. I am thinking of offering 2.5K. Car is in decent shape, interior is very good, exterior has some paint peeling on front bumper/air dam, runs nicely but is not nearly as nice as my near showroom1998 XJ8 nor does it have any maintenance history. This is the 4th owner. You guys that have owned both, what do you think? As usual I don't need the car. LOL

No maintenance history is the main downer. Even if there are no fault lights and messages, it's likely you'll need to carry out some repairs to the suspension, as the bushes don't last very long at all. So: -
- rear lower wishbone
- rear tracking rods
- front trunnion bush on the front lower wishbone
- all air spring lower bushes
and probably one or two of the upper wishbone bushes, maybe new arms complete if the balljoints are gone.

The mileage is not all that high as these cars can go well beyond 200k miles. even 300k, but the maintenance must be kept up-to-snuff to do so.

Look at the condition of all coolant hoses. The expansion tank can be prone to cracking. feel where each hose connects to the tank for wetness. The I had trouble with the front air struts leaking on cold mornings. I installed Arnott replacements. Since the X-308 has steel springs, you don't have the problem. Plan on changing the trans filter, fluid and pan with a kit. If at some point you have to change the fuel pump, access is easier on the X-350 than the X-308.

All that said, I really like the 2006 XJR that I bought to replace the 99 X-308 that I had.

Thanks for the responses. The guy got a far higher offer, around 6K, so my offer was laughable.
