Exclamation Major Brake Problems - Needs Parts and Help!

So I printed out the FAQ on how to do my own breaks on my 04 XJ8 and went to work. First I ran into problems with breakwarehouse sending me wrong rotors and pads, but lets forget all that... The real problem is mechanics who take shortcuts and dont properly inspect parts.

Basically on two of my Caliper Carriers (the part in which the pads sit) the a few of the Guide Pins to which the Caliper itself bolts to were seized solid, I mean I had to stick them in a table vice and use a large pliers to pry the pin out.

Last I did breaks was at a mechanics and it was just under a year ago. Becuase of the pins being stuck the front breaks got so worn down that the pad had separated from is metal backing.

So the pins that we not damaged I re-greased and made sure that they move freely and easily, but two of the pins themselves dried out and rusted at the tip, so when they get fully depressed they have a hard time coming out.

Tried cleaning it with break cleaner but they are just too damaged.

Now for the seemingly hard part. Where can I order the pin and boot alone? I cant seem to find it anywhere - though I did not check by the dealer yet, and I am terrified to find out what they would want for 3 inches of steel...

If you're going to search around on the internet, remember that it's spelled 'brakes' not 'breaks'.

Any idea what those pins are called exactly? Maybe a part #? (Thanks for the spelling correction )

You mean the Brake Caliper Guide Pin

OE from Jaguar is around $60.
