Default Maps Install

Hi all,

My Nav display states to insert maps and I've checked there is nothing in the module, or at least, nothing happens when I press eject.

I've got a new disc but the module will not accept it. When offered up into the slot, its not drawn in. Tried with various key positioning and everything else seems to be okay.

Has anyone also encountered this? I'm thinking to just swap out the module?

Personally, while it's nice to have the NAV information on the dash, the maps are so outdated as to border on useless, especially in any area that has had any road development. No updates after 2012, and those were 200 bucks! Maybe find a used disc on eBay? Anyway, I wouldn't even bother. Your phone does a much better job!

If it's a hardware issue with the module, again, not worth the cost of getting it working.

My own humble opinion, anyway.

I completely agree. I bought it a few days ago, love at first sight, and the Nav system was more of a loose end. I'm actually more irritated by the awful gear knob upgrade that I cant remove, the top has dis-engaged from the internal nut and just spins - but that's another story.

Unlike some, I like to have the NAV working. I just don't go to the dark side of town

Occasionally it gets a disk error, usually fixed by turning the ignition off on and/or ejecting and reinserting the disk.
If the eject button doesn't work, I'd be inclined toward a hard reset (disconnect battery), though I haven't had to yet.
The ignition has to be at least on ACC (screen powered up) for the eject button to work. As to whether there's a disk in there already, I can't tell apart from another disk "hits something".

Other than the dark side of town not sure where to get the latest maps for Aus/NZ (without paying a ridiculous price).
I go there occasionally and remove the NZ part so it'll fit on one disc.
The latest one on there works okay but it's not in a 45 degree perspective like the previous one.. Only has a top view (90 degree).
Nice to have the latest maps in the system I suppose and amazing they're still available here. Having the latest maps is only really a novelty or back up if your phone dies. And I don't mind hearing the car talk back to me occasionally! The pommy voice is nicer than the US one lol.

I believe the Toyota/Lexus discs are compatible. Last time I checked they were retailing for around $200. Amazing they're still available.
Have you found any good legit sources?
