Default Mass Air Flow Sensor 2004 XJR

I saw the post about using a Toyota MAFS for a 2004 XJ8, but when I tried to cross reference even the given Jaguar part number, I got the impression that it will be a different part number for the XJR.

I found one in the states for $178, which is a remanufactured unit.

Any ideas or other part numbers?

I have a check engine light that the dealer said looked MAFS related but they wanted a couple more hours of labor to chase it down. I was there for a different reason that was already getting expensive, so I declined at the time figuring I'll research it later.

Would this also cause a slightly lumpy idle?

I'd DIY by starting with an OBD tool with live data (could search on that in S-Type forum) and look at LTFT values (same idea, and see my sig).

If buying a used MAF I'd get one from a wrecker. But I'd start with OBD - it's what it's for.

ok... This one:
Mangoose JLR - Jaguar & Land Rover Dealer Level Diagnostics & Programming

Or This one:
Autoenginuity OBDII OBD2 Windows Scan Tool Scanner USB | eBay

I've come to this conclusion roughly based on this discussion:

and this discussion:

Even an elm327 should be OK. (But much more limited.) The bluetooth one is convenient and also works with Android apps like Torque.

I did finally get it in the mail. Pre-Christmas is probably not the best time to order from China.

Everything else in my life took on a high level of priority, so I haven't had a chance to get it out of the shrink-wrap. Perhaps today is a good day. I've got to build a virtual machine for it to live on.

This car gets overwhelming sometimes. Right now, I've got the CEL, rattling in the front end which HAS to be the front sway bar bushings as they are the only front end component that HASN'T been replaced, and I've got extremely reduced heat output from the cabin heater (all sides) which I haven't had time to track down to the source problem. Ugh. I would love to hit a point where I've got a stable ride for awhile.
