I recently bought a Mongoose Pro cable so I can use the SDD software; however, I did not realize that there is a seperate version for Jaguar/Land Rover (the one I currently have is the Pro MFC version). Will my cable still work with SDD, or am I looking at a different option? My other option would be VCM but I am not well-versed in the hardware involved so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I cannot comment on the Mongoose cable, as I use VCM, but the most important thing, independantly from whether you use a Mongoose cable or VCM, is that you need to have a stabilized power supply (capable of delivering at least 50A at 13.4 or 13.8V)!
A normal battery charger will not work. When you start SDD, the car will start up all electronic modules at the same time, and the battery will be empty in no time. If that happens in the middle of a diagnosis or reflashing, you can brick an electronic module.
The VCM also has the possibility of having an additional power supply instead of only being powered via USB or the OBD cable, and that's what I added, as well. Since then, no problems at all.
A Module will definitely be damaged during coding if the voltage drops too much. But that's not my point. I don't know why you keep repeating this nonsense about the 50A PSU, unless it's to scare people. I've figured out everything in this car and with 30A PSU and I use it regularly because it meets JLR specs.

Thank you all so much for the reply! I went ahead and installed the appropriate drivers for the cable that I have and SDD does recognize the cable as a Mongoose Pro MFC. I hope to be able to access the data within the car to do a transmission adaptation reset and I'll keep everyone posted on whether or not I can do it on my cable.
As an update to my previous post, I was able to connect to the Jaguar using the cable and after countless searches later, I was able to reset the transmission adaptation. I'll be doing the drive adaptation procedure tomorrow but nonetheless, I am surprised that the Pro MFC, which was designed for Toyota, was able to communicate with the system from Jaguar (I assume it's based on the J-2534-1 protocol instead of the J-2534-2 protocol that the speciality JLR cable has). Overall, I am very happy that the software was able to work with the cable and I cannot wait to see the harsh shifting dissappearing at long last.
