mp3 connection on Super V8
With all the talk about connecting a mp3/Ipod to our X350's, has any Super V8 owners just tapped into the rear rca jacks located in the rear control panel?
I know I can listen to an Ipod by pluging in a mini to rca cord into the rear rca inputs.
The input to the head unit would only be analog, but would be better than radio or fm modulator.
So what would be the disadvantages to permanantly wiring from rear rca inputs to a mini plug socket located in the front, maybe in the ashtray? Other than selecting the aux audio input from rear controls. But this would only have to be selected if another device were selected from the front, as you cant select aux audio from the front controls (dash). I can control the volume from the front, and select tracks from the ipod.
Any thoughts? It seems to simple/easy.
Or is it easier installing a simple bluetooth receiver. I just need audio. ACM just doesn't seem worth it $$ or reliable enough, for the work and $$$ to me. I just use the Ipod for trips. I dont mind controling tracks via the ipod.

Hi Mark; I wouldn't go with Bluetooth if you have the option of any jacks already in the factory system, which will keep you @factory sound. You will lose a great deal going Bluetooth. It works great, but just in comparison to the CD sound quality, it isn't close.
I'd sacrifice having to reach in the back when needed to change to it. Thing is, how often would you actually listen to the radio when you can stream? Heck with iHeart, you can stream your radio stations @CD quality!..

Here is a thread where someone did something like what you are suggesting only with way more functionality so it seems what you are thinking about can be done:

I just hooked up (temporarily) one of these to the aux in on our Super V8

It sounds great and you don't have to plug your phone into a cord.
Next is to install it permanently - I need to figure out how to get that rear center console apart without breaking anything.
