Default My XJ has gone wild

It started out with my radio going from FM to AM for no reason, Then my A/C started to blink, all the controls, and my blower motor shut down. Next my indicators started going crazy and I got a left and right side repeater failure message. Then I got a parking brake failure message and then to top it off my alarm went off after I parked. When I restart all these things go away for about two minute then star up again. Help.

Default XJ gone wild

I think I may have found the problem. We had 6 inches of rain here yesterday, thanks to TS Andria. I looked in my trunk and found about 8 inches of water, I wet vack- ed it out and now it seems OK. My next task is to find out how the water got there. My carpet in the trunk is dry and looks new. All the weather stripping looks fine, I guess its a trip to a body shop or a car cover. What a nuisance.

These cars cannot cope with large amounts of water into the drainage area

around the boot lid.

The water can get in via the seal around the light fittings and a number of other

areas.

There is a TSB for this B501-07

Hmmm. An English buiilt car that cannot handle heavy rain.

Perhaps they don't get much rain in England??

Last year it rained the whole summer, and then some ! Also most of Spring too. Yet my boot remained nice and dry, and no, the car is not kept in a garage ! The problem is that the seals on the rear light clusters can let water in through the aperture, but mine are OK, (at the moment !!).

This year not quite so bad, but the coldest spring in 50 years, with wind and snow from Siberia. Yesterday was OK, though, it got up to 25C in Hereford where we went for a trip.
