I call upon the collective wisdom of the forum, because I'm stuck. Literally and figuratively. I have a large coolant leak, coming down from the right rear corner of the engine. How I got here is as follows.

The car is a 2005 VDP with approx. 182,000 miles. It is otherwise in extremely good condition. It is my 5th jaguar. My 3rd XJ8.
Driving to work one morning, stuck in traffic, wisps of steam started coming from under the hood. It turned out to be coolant spraying from one of the heater hoses on the firewall and then hitting the exhaust manifold. I ordered the OEM part from the dealer.

Since I also had been having recurring lean codes with intake manifold air leaks shown by carb cleaner test, I decided to reseal the manifold at the same time, thereby giving me better access to the hoses on the firewall. I think I must have violated some basic rule of Jaguar ownership, not to undertake two jobs simultaneously.

Everything reassembled. Job done. When I started to refill the overflow tank I heard coolant pouring down the rear of the engine. It's not coming from the new heater hoses. The valley hose was replaced about 10,000 miles ago. The leak I had from the heater hose .originally was very small. This leak is very large .

So i ask, what am I overlooking? What else back there could I have disturbed to cause such a leak? Is there another hose I could have overlooked?

Coolant coming down the back of the engine means that coolant is getting into the valley.

Either your valley hose or a connection has failed or there is a leak form the large plastic manifold

at the front of the engine and under the TB.

The plastic bits only last so long-ask me how I know!
