Well after spending 1200 on the new headliner and a couple minor stuff for my car they also told me that I should get my rotors and pads replaced, but since I hate the OEM pads and rotors I don't wanna pay 500 for their crappy rotors and pads, so I need a shop that does brakes in south florida since I'm not gonna do another DIY and ruin my car, anyone knows anybody down here? I just need my car for another 3-4 months then I'm getting my Maserati Gran Turismo so I don't need no fancy brembos or anything just something better than oem pads and rotors. Thanks in advance guys

tirerack.com carries Brembo rear rotors ($69). The also have akebono pads for the rear(oddly enough they show only for model year 2005). You can find a "certified installer" from their web site as well - they all have reviews.

I replaced rotors and pads on my 02 JX8L with PosiQuiet CERAMIC pads and Bremo rotors (standard replacement rotors, NOT the Bremo super brake system). Bought them at a local independent import auto parts store (Rotors: $90 each; pads $61.50 set).
About 3,000 miles later I am still a most happy camper with the results: Quiet, no squeals, good pedal response and feel, and very little noticeable brake dust.
By the way, if you have changed rotors and pads on any recent model car you will be right at home with a DIY job on the 05 Jag XJ, I think. Pistons on the rear calipers are probably seated by screwing them in counterclockwise with an adapter and 3/8 inch rachet (can't seat them with a C-clamp). At least that is what I found on my daughter's 05 Jag S-type V6.
Give it a try and save some $!!

Followup to what I just posted: Only the front rotors were $90 each, the rear about $60.
Well I just bought 2 Pilenga rotors for $170 and Akebono EUR1065 EURO Ultra-Premium Ceramic pads for $83, a guy who does ferraris and porches is gonna put them on for $60 so I actually end up spending $313, anyone can beat that? =D plus my hands don't even get dirty!

"Ultra-Premium" pads - marketing these days.
Tell the "ferrari" guy to bleed you brakes properly on all 4 wheels. The "porsche" guy I went to, didn't and my rear brake locked. Works fine after he did the bleeding again.

I just went to BAP/Geon and got rotors and pads for the front. The rotors were Brembo and the pads were Pagid. Rotors were $65 for the fronts and pads were about $45. Both have been excellent and the brakes are much better than with the OEM stuff. I have had good luck there with brake parts. I have had the Akebono pads on my XJ6, they are quiet and low dust but I don't like the performance, they just don't grip well. I like brakes that really grip.

I got Akebono pads at Racepages.com for a good price. They don't dust and have a little less bite. I prefered this because my 04 XJR kept trying to throw me threw the window on the lightest press of the peddle. I havn't used this company yet brakeperformance.com, but their top rotors are gauranteed for life with pads and the price is good. Also, a BBB company. I think I got them from someone on this forum.....can't remember. Others have used EBC and liked their pads. Also, I know they say you can't use the pads for VIN numbers passed xxxx. When I contacted Akebono about this, because I didn't think the pads fit the car, they stated the pads are the same size and only the compound composition was changed. I have about 12K on my Akebonos and I like them alot. My $.02

I'm afraid that I am a bit of a laterel thinker and two questions occur to me:
Why do you need replacement rotors and pads?
Why do you need replacement rotors and pads if you are getting another car soon?
