Need some help...Tranny issue
Hey guys,
Let me start by saying i do not know the history of the car. It has 216k miles on it so i am sure the tranny has had prior issues and i also found a ECM and transmission module in the trunk of the car also. So who ever had it definitely messed with it. I bought the car for $700 so if it ends up needing a tranny ill just part it out or selling it for the same if possible., its not my main car.
I did some searching and i am aware of the transmission issues but i couldnt find anyone who is having similar problem.
So basically CEL is on and "transmission fail" warning is on. When i put it in drive it seems as if it starts in 4th or 5th gear and goes real slow until it reaches about 40mph and then go normal. I took it up to 90mph no problem.
If i put it in gear 4 it will pick up better but seems to slip in that gear not all the time.
Thats all i can think of..if anyone can be of help i would greatly appreciate it.

If the car stands you in at $700 it may be worth spending a little money to get it running properly.
First off get the codes read then you'll know how little is 'little' in terms of what needs doing. 216k miles is a LOT, but the cars can do this and more but need the maintenance done regularly, so it might just need some minor work.

yea i know without codes its hard to even start narrowing it down. I will try to get a scanner asap. Yea I am willing to put some money into it i just want to know what the problem is so i can prioritize the repairs.
