New cat in the alley
Hey everyone. No question here. Just wanted to make my first post as a hello. Just bought a 2004 xj8. 70k original miles. Well loved by the first owner. Hopefully the issues are few and far between! I'll be doing lots of searching for answers on here I'm sure.
Welcome Thewhyterhyno!
Stumped by that name... hyhy What?
So, is she Black? White? Brown? Post some pix so we can all leer at her...
I bought a Black 2004 XJR with 36,000 miles about a year ago, with no issues yet. And there's lots of good info in this forum - but be careful how much you consume - after a while reading about everyone's problems it'll make you start worrying about stuff that'll probably never happen to you.

A photo or two ?Yes please ! I just looked at your weather in Tucson and it seems it never gets really cold, which is good as the air suspension compressors seem to signal they are failing when the temperature starts dropping. These cars are very reliable and many owners have got over 200k miles. The editor of our Jaguar Enthusiasts Club magazine is one such. I think he keeps driving it because he's not sure what to get next ! Any traditional Jaguar enthusiast just loves the style of the car, the newer XJ is very "avant garde" and takes a bit of getting used to.
Anyways, if you surf the X350 forum, you'll see the kind of issues people get with these cars. My gripe is the short life of the suspension components, but my car is a 2003, and the new rear lower wishbones I put on are lasting better than the ones that came with the car, so improvements no doubt were made over the production life of the car. There are generally no serious issues with the engine and transmission, in fact most stuff seems to be niggling, even though it can be annoying.
I wish you all the very best with your new cat ! Have you ever had a Jaguar before ?
BTW, my car is now on 89k, bought 2010 on 30k. We've had three holiday trips to Germany in it, and it is just perfect for long journeys. We like the Rheintal and Moseltal with their castles and wonderful scenery. Excellent wine too !! It is about 600 miles from our house in the North West of England which we do in a day, starting off at about 02.00 in the morning.

I still look back at her when parking and can't believe I own that car.
A long way from my first car, 65 Mercury Comet.
