New issues to discover on this beautiful car
After months of searching, in this competitive market, I finally found a 2008 VDP that ticks the boxes I had. It's amazing how many variables exist between my 2005 base and this '08 VDP.
A few items to inquire about:
1. The center console doesn't slide, has a "ski slope" toward the rear, and has a spring loaded cup holder pair. Very little is discussed in the driver's handbook, including any mention of "why"?. I discover that opening the lid of the cubby one discovers no cubby at all! Is it full of gear immediately below? What could require all that previously handy space?
2. There is no leaper, nor any sign of ever had one. Leaper delete? Seems weird with all the bling on this car.
3. The clock seems different somehow, visually, from the '05. Whatever that is, I'm sure I prefer the newer one, but I find it isn't illuminated at night. Anyone else had that fail? Tips for removing without breaking clips or tabs?
4. I paired my phone with the touch screen system, and it gets calls through the speakers very well, but I don't seem to have a microphone. Caller can't hear me respond. It all works but for that. Ideas?
Many thanks for all the valuable advice from those who preceded me in these treacherous waters.

1. Your VDP will have the 4-zone aircon. This means that the center console is full of the aircon equipment for the rear seats. The little chrome opening clip for the front cup holders is fragile. You can put a credit card under there, but not a wallet!
2. Sigh. Many forum wars have been fought over leapers. The car was not designed to have a leaper, that's why both x350 and x358 have a growler (Jaguar face) on the grille. In the USA, I think they were a dealer fit option for those that just had to make their car look like a 1967 Mk 10. Other parts of the world generally were not so keen on the leaper, which, in the UK was banned as being a hazard to pedestrians, even when spring-loaded. Neither of my cars has one.
No leaper, just a growler!
3. There was a change in clock ....
C2C3272 ? C2C10764 LNC4315AC
part number at VIN G44968, which may have affected the face detail, It went from C2C3272 to C2C10764 to LNC4315AC.
4. If the headliner has been replaced, the microphone may have become disconnected. Mine's ex-Japan, so none of that works. Does it let you train the speech recognition?
The owner manual is available for download, look on Jaghelp.com.
Enjoy your car!
